Requirements
  April 2003

Because of overwhelming SPAM, comments are no longer being allowed. Thus the Voices Journal can no longer link to prompt entries. We apologize for this necessary step and hope people will still participate in the prompts.

Ring Requirements

1. A separate section of your journal dedicated to your characters is required. For an example, check out Solos. This is the character journal of Voices' ringmistress, Saronai.

2. All entries must be in 1st person, from the point of view (pov) of the character in question, and they must be written as though the character were writing a journal entry. If the character cannot write for some reason, then make the entry a moment of introspection and deep, contemplative thought, as though they were logging an entry into their mind's journal. Character Profile pages are also acceptable (detailed lists about every note you've ever made on your character, etc).

3. We have no rating limits in our ring, but we do ask, that the more adult entries are labeled as such in the title or at the beginning.

4. Once you submit your site, you will get an automated ring code by email. Your site must be approved by the ringmistresses before you put up the ring code. If you put it up anyway, we might accept you provided you fulfill all the other requirements. If requirements are not fulfilled, you will be notified and if they are not fixed within one week, you will be removed from the ring.

5. You should receive an acceptance or rejection (with explanation of what is still needed) in one week. Upon acceptance, you may put up the ring code. If the code is not up within a week after your acceptance, then you will get a reminder via email. If the code is not up within two weeks after your acceptance, we will remove you. To get your code, click on edit site, put in your site ID and password and enter your site admin, then click on 'Get Code'.

6. No overly flashy stuff and no auto-starting midis please.

7. Your link to this site must be fairly easy to find, located on your main page, or a separate page for links. If you are a member wishing to be included in the ring links, it must be the whole ring code so that the code is able to continue full circle when clicking on the arrows to either side.

8. Your site must be coded for both I.E. and either Netscape 7, Firefox, or Opera.

Participation

1. If you are a ring member, we would like you to keep your site updated at least once a month with either our entry ideas or your own, character profiles count as monthly updates. Remembering, keeping the sites within the ring updated gets the ring more interested viewers, and more interested viewers for the ring means more interested viewers for your websites! Keep people coming back by updating as often as possible!

2. Members who have not updated their website for a noticeably long period of time will be contacted, dead weight will be removed if no promises (empty or otherwise) are made in reply.

3. Once you get your acceptance email, don't forget to sign up for the email list!

As an ending note, we take all suggestions for coming journal entries into consideration via the e-list. We also would love to hear from you on what you think of the ring and any suggestions you might have to help us help writers get to know their characters more efficiently. Thanks for your interest!
