Because of overwhelming SPAM, comments are no longer being allowed. Thus the Voices Journal can no longer link to prompt entries. We apologize for this necessary step and hope people will still participate in the prompts.
As an alternative, you can reply to the Voices prompt updates on Muse Sing's twitter page with a link to your work that the prompt inspired. You may also email me your entry. If you meet the guidelines below, I will post a link to your piece in the appropriate entry on this site.
Absolutely anyone can do a prompt on this site, linking your work via twitter or email (and then the prompt entries) is not required, but it is appreciated. I enjoy knowing when and what entries are used by others.
Guidelines to get your site linked
1. A separate section of your journal dedicated to your characters is awesome, but not necessary. Some example journals can be found at Saronai's Solos index.
2. All entries should be in 1st person, from the point of view (pov) of the character in question, and they must be written as though the character were writing a journal entry. If the character cannot write for some reason, then make the entry a moment of introspection and deep, contemplative thought, as though they were logging an entry into their mind's journal. Another alternative is an audio/visual recording that they are talking to. Character Profile pages are also acceptable (detailed lists about every note you've ever made on your character, etc).
However, Twitter links to pieces inspired by the prompt are neat as well.
3. I have no rating limits, but I do ask that the more adult entries are labeled as such in the twitter, title, or at the beginning of the post.
4. No overly flashy stuff and no auto-starting midis please.
5. An easy to locate link back to Voices from your page. If I cannot locate this, at least on the entry, then I will not return link you from here.
6. Your site should be coded for both I.E. and either Netscape 7, Firefox, or Opera.
As an ending note, I take all suggestions for coming journal entries via email. I also would love to hear from you on what you think of the site and any suggestions you might have to help Voices help writers get to know their characters more efficiently. Thanks for your interest!
