Okay, so it seems off the wall, but I got the idea from watching an anime called "Fruits Basket" where the general translation of Tohru's words were that people were like Rice balls and they each had a different and good plum on their back. The idea was, that everyone could see everyone else's plum, but they could not see their own. So, they might have the tendency to get jealous of another's plum, not realizing they had their own, beautiful plum, attached to their back. Tohru spoke of it because two other characters both envied the other, too busy looking at each other's plums to see their own good qualities.
Therein lies the quest of this journal entry...
Either your character, or someone they are thinking of has a plum on their back that they can't see personally, what is it, what happened to make them think about it? Are they envying the plum of another, blind to their own? Have they become aware of their own plum or are they still ignorant of it's existence? Even more challenging, can you make us aware of the pov character's plum without them realizing they have it in the end?
(My apologies if I screwed up the translation, it was a sweet way to think of this and it's been a few weeks since I saw that episode)
